Sarasota Emergency Associates, P.A. is a privately owned, democratic group providing exclusive emergency healthcare and walk-in/urgent care services to Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System. Our corporation was founded in 1972 and has been continuously contracted with Sarasota Memorial Hospital since its inception. Most of our physicians currently have an academic affiliation with Florida State University School of Medicine.
Emergency Medicine has Departmental status within the Hospital. This entitles our Department to a seat on the Medical Executive Committee. Members of the group have held positions of leadership within the Hospital such as Vice President of Medical Affairs and two have been Chief of Staff.
Our Emergency Department includes 54 treatment rooms, including an urgent care center, as well as a separate psychiatric treatment area, 3 walk-in clinics and a free standing Emergency Department. Approximately 20% of our patients are admitted to the hospital. We also receive the majority of ambulance traffic from North Sarasota County and the County EMS Director is a member of our Group..
In September 2009, we partnered with Sarasota Memorial Hospital to open a 21 bed free-standing Emergency Department in the city of North Port. It is a 26,000 square foot facility operating 24 hours per day, 7 days a week
